Port Numbers Used In AXIS/GridLink
UDP/TCP Port Numbers Used in AXIS
Currently the following network protocols are supported in AXIS: TCP/IP
suite, IPX/SPX suite and NetBEUI protocols. The most used one is TCP/IP.
1. UDP ports used by AXIS
AXIS master and helpers discover each other via UDP broadcast. AXIS master listens to UDP port 4527, and AXIS helpers listen to UDP port 4528. These are default settings and can be configured.
- For Standard Distributed Processing, these ports are configured in AXIS System Parameters dialog.
- For GridLink, these ports are configured in “Farm Settings – Network Settings” using GridLink Utility.
2. TCP ports used by AXIS
There could be more than one AXIS master and helper running on the same computer,
and they use different TCP ports assigned by WinSock. According to MSDN, “the service provider assigns a unique port to the application with a value between 1024 and 5000.”
TCP Port Numbers Used in GridLink
GridLink supports TCP/IP only. GridLink Controller service uses TCP
port 3764 by default, and this setting can be configured in "Farm
Settings - Network Settings" using GridLink Utility.
Normally, the user can leave the port numbers with the default
settings. These port numbers should not be changed unless, in very rare
cases, they conflict with existing network services.
