Within the liability modules of AXIS, cells are used to define specific insurance and annuity products, using various plan parameters, product features, and other assumptions necessary project financial results. AXIS defines inforce and new business within cells using either a modeling approach (the Volumes Table defines a matrix of product ages and issue years) or a seriatim record based approach. DataLink helps you create and link this file of seriatim records to AXIS cells, thus enabling valuation and full financial projections based on an exact specification of inforce and historic new business.
AXIS Batch processes may be used to calculate one or more tables of seriatim valuation results and calendar year projections. DataLink query objects allow you to design and prepare a variety of reports linking these seriatim result tables to the original inforce business records, using all the flexibility of a relational database.
Ceded reinsurance data may also be handled efficiently by DataLink. Several different approaches to reinsurance data are available depending on the structure of the reinsurance source information and the way you wish to model reinsurance within AXIS cells.
Some types of supplementary policy information (e.g. miscellaneous riders and supplementary benefits, policyholder investment fund balances, guaranteed interest deposit balances, historic transactions used for Earnings by Source) may be loaded and stored in supplementary information tables, which are linked to the base policy information by the Policy ID field and passed to AXIS for processing.
DataLink may also be used to define AXIS cells and AXIS tables required to process seriatim information, or to query on the assumptions defined for existing AXIS objects.
