Entering Data in the Cell Assumption Screen
in AXIS Users Guide - Working With Cells

As you move the cursor around the Cell Assumption Screen, you have the option of changing field contents or working with Tables that are selected. The method used to enter data into a field depends on the type of field, as follows:

Menu Option Fields

Menu Option Fields always show the text description of the currently selected option. You may choose whether or not the option number is also displayed (preceding the text description) by opening the cell,  selecting the Options ... item in the Format Menu on the menubar, and toggling on the check box entitled "Include numbers for multiple choice fields".

When the cursor is placed on a Menu Option Field by left-clicking it, or by moving field to field using the <Tab> key, a drop-down list box arrow appears at the right end of the text description field. You may then change the selection of options for this field by:

  1. Left-clicking the list box triangle to reveal the list of menu options, and use the mouse to select the new option; or

  2. Use the cursor movement keys on the keyboard to scroll through the option list without using the list box; or

  3. Type the number of the new option to be selected and press <Enter>

Scalar Value Fields

Scalar Value fields always show the current numerical value for the field rounded to the number of digits that can be displayed in the available field size. You may find more digits will be displayed if you resize the font using the Font option in the Format Menu from the Menu Bar.

To edit a scalar field, place the cursor on the field, and the entire contents will become selected. If you start typing the new value, the previous value will be replaced. Alternatively, left-click on the field again and an insertion point will appear in the field to allow you to edit the current entry. Once you have finished editing the new value, press <Enter> to store the value.

Table Selection Fields

Table Selection Fields on the Cell Assumption Screen include the Table name entry field itself, a table icon and either one or two associated scalar modifier fields. The Table name entry field may also contain the internal Table ID number in square brackets (if you have selected this display preference using the Options item in the Format Menu from the Menu Bar).

The Table icon is used to reflect the status and attributes of the Table and is controlled by AXIS.

The modifier fields are labeled FLAT and MULT and the values in these fields are used to adjust the vectors of values that AXIS extracts from the tables themselves. Generally, the final values resulting from the three Table fields in total for a given entry age are determined as: (MULT) X (Table values) + (FLAT).  Placing the cursor on a FLAT or MULT table modifier allows you to edit the value in that field in the same way that other Scalar Value fields are edited (see above).

To select a Table, or perform other actions on a selected Table, right click in the Table name entry field, and then choose from the action menu that is displayed. You may also select a Table by typing the name of the Table directly in the Table Name field or you may cut and paste the Table name from another Table field. There is no option to enter the Table ID No. to select a table.

To view or edit a Table's contents, double-click in the Table name field, or select Edit from the action menu for the table.

More detailed information about using and editing tables is presented in the Working with Tables help book available in the table of contents.
