System and Dataset Parameters
in AXIS Users Guide - Basic AXIS Concepts

AXIS allows you to record a variety of user preferences and system settings by using two types of Parameters: System Parameters and Dataset Parameters. System Parameters affect the operation of AXIS in general and are not Dataset-specific. Dataset Parameters on the other hand only affect the Dataset in which they are set, and the settings are saved along with the Dataset itself.

System Parameters include general user preferences for selection list appearance and overflow/underflow protection, and hardware options such as security key configuration and shading on printed reports.

Dataset Parameters allow you to adjust options that affect the contents and appearance of projections for a specific Dataset, and the selection of the current scenario. There are also options affecting the operation of editing within a Table, including the setting of the number of decimal digits displayed. In addition, DataLink inforce dates and other settings are now included in the dataset parameters dialoge box.

To adjust either type of parameter, select the Parameters option from the File Menu, and choose either parameter type from the selection list. Certain parameters affecting display formats or editing actions may also be adjusted while editing or viewing the object to which they apply, by selecting Preferences from the Format Menu.
