Course Descriptions

Please note that you must complete the Web Based Training for Overview and General Liability before attending  most of the other training. Each takes about 6-8 hours so keep that in mind when signing up. For times and locations, see the listing of scheduled classes. We are also willing to consider new courses requested by clients. Feel free to contact our training staff to discuss these options.

AXIS Overview
GGY is pleased to announce the availability of our new online Overview training session. This session provides important prerequisites for our other training sessions and MUST be completed prior to attending any session. You can begin the training immediately by clicking on the link to the left. This session should take about 6-8 hours in order to get the most out of it.
General Liability Module

GGY is pleased to announce the availability of our new online General Liability training session. This session will provide a basic understanding of modeling liabilities in AXIS and is a prerequisite to all liability module specific training ( Regular, Par, Universal Life, Disability, Annuity and Group Annuity). so you MUST complete it before attending any of these session. You can begin the training immediately by clicking on the link to the left. This session should take about 6-8 hours in order to get the most out of it.
General Asset Module

This full day session extends the capabilities of any AXIS user who has attended an overview session but still has limited experience with modeling assets in AXIS. This session introduces participants to the fundamental aspects of the asset module of AXIS.
Module Specific Training

Sessions are offered for each of the liability modules of AXIS.
DataLink Training

This full day session introduces users with some familiarity with AXIS, to seriatim processing, building and updating of AXIS objects.  AXIS DataLink is used to link the users source information with AXIS.  Using DataLink in both Asset and Liability applications will be covered during this session.  
Stochastic Liability Training

This full day session will focus on investment products with guarantees that insurance companies are selling today. Three different modules are useful in modeling these types of products - Annuity, Scenario Tools, and Stochastic Processing. In Canada, these products are sold as Segregated Funds. In the US, they are generally referred to as Variable Annuities.
Introduction to ScenarioTools

This half-day session introduces experienced AXIS users to stochastic generation of economic scenarios and their uses within AXIS asset and liability modules.
Advanced Topics

These sessions cover a variety of topics for the advanced user.
AXIS in a Production Environment

This session covers topics related to running AXIS in a production environment.

CALM / Reinvestment

This full day session will introduce experienced AXIS users to the CALM valuation process and Reinvestment Strategies. This session would also be relevant for ALM or Cashflow testing.

New Features Training

This session will take you through recent changes to the system. We are constantly adding functionality to the system and the more you know about these changes, the more productive you will be with the system.

Formula Tables Training

GGY is pleased to announce the availability of our new online Formula Tables training session. This session provides important information about creating and using AXIS Formula Tables and should be completed before attempting to use them. You can begin the training immediately by clicking on the link above.

Tools in AXIS for Better Efficiency

As we work through each project, we will use many tricks and tools to accomplish things more quickly and efficiently. Users will get introduced to several “hidden” features as well as many key basic features of AXIS. Users will also be provided a document with step-by-step instructions on how to make use of the different tools introduced.

Stochastic Processing Module

With the improving speed of computers, actuarial analysis has become more and more about stochastic analysis. In this session, we will introduce the Stochastic Processing module. This module offers much more power in setting up and analyzing large numbers of scenarios. It also opens the door to computer-intensive Stochastic-on-Stochastic runs.
