The Calendar Year Projections Report allows you to view cash flows, profits, contributions to free surplus, reserve balances, statistical values, and many other values as projected over a selected period of time from one to 80 years. Versions of this report are produced at the Cell level and at all three higher levels within the system. The user may choose to capture and display monthly or quarterly detail for up to the first 15 years in the projection period.
You may export the calendar year projections report or any user-defined custom report based on the calendar year projections to the AXIS Import/Export Database for further analysis or reporting, or for further use in an external system.
You may export projections to the Import/Export Database directly from the viewed list of objects (i.e. Cells, Subfunds, Funds or Offices), or you may specify that a selected report be exported to the Import/Export Database as part of a batch process. Projections produced by a single object may also be exported directly after an interactive run of that object has been performed. You may choose the Name of the table used to hold the exported projections using placeholders to build the name at time of execution (see note below).
Once you have displayed a list of objects which may be used to run projections, you may choose to export projections immediately for the current object in the list, or for a group of selected objects by using an Action Menu option for that list. Custom reports may be used to specify selected lines from each object's full calendar year projections to be exported, or if no custom report is used, the entire default report will be exported. The full annual projections will be exported according to the current length of the projection period as selected under Dataset parameters, although you may choose whether to substitute monthly or quarterly values for annual values where available.
As an alternative approach, once you have calculated projections interactively while editing a specific Cell or higher level object (Subfund, Fund or Office), you may also choose to immediately export these projections to the Import/Export Database using an option on the Import/Export Menu. The same selection options are available as for exporting from the object list.
To interactively export projections to the Import/Export Database from an object list, perform the following steps:
Create and save the appropriate custom report, if necessary.
Use the View Menu to display a list of the objects for which you wish to export projections.
If projections for more than one object are to be exported, select the appropriate items in the list. (Confirm that the cell projections necessary to run these objects have been currently recalculated and saved, or if necessary, perform and batch recalculation first to insure that stored projections are available and up-to-date at the cell level.)
Display the action menu for the object by right-clicking on the item list, or by clicking the Action button in the Action Bar. From the Action Menu select the Advanced submenu, then select the Export option and finally select Projections.
On the Export Projections form that is displayed:
select the appropriate path in which an existing Import/Export Database is located (if the path or the database file itself do not exist, they will be created for you);
select the name of the projections table within the database to hold the exported projections using placeholders to build the name at time of execution (see note below), and if appropriate select the check box to append the exported data to the contents of an existing table (if the table does not exist an empty table will be created);
select the appropriate periodicity of the projections to be exported (monthly, quarterly or annual);
select the appropriate option for designating any custom reports to be applied to the object projections;
click the Export button to proceed when all the above selections have been made.
To interactively export recalculated projections for a single cell (or higher level object) to the Import/Export Database, perform the following steps:
Create and save the appropriate custom report, if necessary.
Use the View Menu to display a list of the objects for which you wish to export projections.
Either Edit and Run the object for which you wish projections to be exported, or select View from the Action Menu for the current object (this approach cannot be applied to multiple selected objects).
Once the projections have been recalculated or the stored projections have been displayed, select Export Projections from the Import/Export Menu on the Menu Bar.
On the Export Projections form that is displayed:
select the appropriate path in which an existing Import/Export Database is located (if the path or the database file itself do not exist, they will be created for you);
select the name of the projections table within the database to hold the exported projections using placeholders to build the name at time of execution (see note below), and if appropriate select the check box to append the exported data to the contents of an existing table (if the table does not exist an empty table will be created);
select the appropriate periodicity of the projections to be exported (monthly, quarterly or annual);
select the appropriate option for designating any custom reports to be applied to the object projections;
click the Export button to proceed when all the above selections have been made.
You may choose to calculate calendar year projection reports at various levels of objects (Cell, Subfund, Fund or Office) during certain Batch procedures. Depending on the Batch process used, projection reports produced at various levels may be optionally printed directly or exported to the Import/Export Database (or both).
Custom reports may be used to specify selected lines from each object's full calendar year projections to be exported, or if no custom report is used, the entire default report will be exported. The full annual projections will be exported according to the current length of the projection period as selected under Dataset parameters, although you may choose whether to substitute monthly or quarterly values where appropriate and the total number of columns to be printed when the exporting reports from the Cell level.
To export Cell level projections to the Import/Export Database under Batch control, perform the following steps:
Create and save the appropriate Cell level custom report, if necessary.
Use the View Menu to display a list of the Batch objects in your Dataset, and create a new batch (or edit an existing batch object) whose type is Calendar Year Projections Recalculation. Using the Batch Wizard, you may select which cells are to be recalculated within the current module, and this wizard will also allow you to export those cell projections (but there will be no access to higher level object reports during the Batch process). Select options as desired up to Step 6.
Within the Wizard which is used to define a CY Projections Recalculation batch, select Calendar Year Projections as one of the Cell Output options in Step 7. This will enable Step 8 in the Wizard which allows you to define CY Projections Output Options.
Using the CY Projections Output Options page of the Wizard:
toggle on the Export to database option
select the appropriate path in which an existing Import/Export Database is located; select the name of the projections table within the database to hold the exported projections (if any of the path, database file or named table do not exist, they will be created for you) using placeholders to build the name at time of execution (see note below); if appropriate select the check box to append the exported data to the contents of an existing table;
select the appropriate periodicity of the projections to be exported (monthly, quarterly or annual) and the corresponding total number of columns to be generated;
select the appropriate option for designating any custom reports to be applied to the cell projections;
click the Finish button to close and save the Batch process when all the above selections have been made.
Execute this Calendar Year Projections Recalculation batch on its own or as part of another batch.
To export higher level projections (Subfund, Fund or Office) to the Import/Export Database under Batch control, perform the following steps:
Create and save the appropriate higher level custom report, if necessary.
Use the View Menu to display a list of the Batch objects in your Dataset, and create a new batch (or edit an existing batch object) whose type is Batch Testing. A Batch Testing batch object allows you to recalculate cells across multiple modules in order to run higher level objects under multiple scenarios and/or multiple overrides, and the calendar year projections available at the higher level being tested may be exported as well as printed. Using the Batch Wizard, you may select which level of object and which specific objects in your Dataset will be tested. While Cell recalculations may be captured in printed reports in this type of batch, only the higher level object reports being generated may be exported to the Import/Export Database. Select options as desired up to Step 7.
Within the Wizard which is used to define a Batch Testing batch, you may select Calendar Year Projections as one of the Output options in Step 8. Using this page of the Wizard:
toggle on the Export option following "calendar year projections";
select the name of the projections table within the database to hold the exported projections (if the named table does not exist, it will be created for you) using placeholders to build the name at time of execution (see note below); if appropriate select the check box to append the exported data to the contents of an existing table;
select the appropriate option for designating any custom reports to be used for the exported projections.
Using the second page of Output Options (Step 9 of the Wizard), select the appropriate path in which an existing Import/Export Database is located (or in which one will be created if necessary).
Click the Finish button to close and save the Batch process when all the above selections have been made.
Execute this Calendar Year Projections Recalculation batch on its own or as part of another batch.
