Objects in AXIS are named and saved items created by the user, which are stored or accessed by object type (examples: Cells, Tables, Batches, Reports). Each object type has its own structure and purpose, and objects of each type are created or edited using a specific assumption screen or wizard designed for that object type.
The Main Application Window is designed to work with one object type at a time. When you first open a Dataset, or when no object is currently being used, the View Menu offers you the basic choices about which objects to work with interactively from the current Dataset. You may only work with one object type at a time, and that object will appear with a check mark beside it when the View Menu is opened. Selecting a new option, or opening a Dataset, will display a list of objects in the current Dataset of the type selected in the View Menu.
Once an object list is displayed in the Main Application window, you may sort the list in different orders, toggle list items on or off to select them, and use the Action Menu to choose what to do with respect the selected items. In order to work with a different object type, you may use the View Menu to change the current object selection. Alternatively, you may click on the icon for a specific object in the Standard Tool Bar to immediately switch to the object list for that object.
The choices of objects offered is the View Menu is shown in the following list. Click on an item in the list to view a topic describing that object and its purpose.
