User profiles allow the user to create and manage custom profile(s) which include system objects, system parameters and preferences.
With user profiles, multiple users can simultaneously use the same installation of AXIS (for instance, installed on the network or on a terminal server) and have a custom set of system objects, parameters and preferences. When a user creates a custom profile and makes changes to the system objects (such as system batches or preferences), it does not affect the other users. All custom information is stored separately in the Users Profile.
The profile storage file name is: "USER_profilename.AXS". If a user's Profile is called "MyProfile", the storage file name will be: "USER_MYPROFILE.AXS". If the user wants to use his profile with another AXIS installation on another machine, the file "USER_profilename.AXS" located in the users AXIS folder must be copied into the AXIS folder on the machine on which it is going to be used. The User Profile dialog, which is described below, will allow the user to switch to another User Profile (for instance, the profile that was copied from another machine).
By default the User Profile "Default" (storage file name: USER_DEFAULT.AXS) is used. This profile cannot be deleted.
NOTE: One User Profile cannot be used by more than one user at the same time.
To manage User Profiles:
On the File menu, click User Profile....
The user profile dialog allows you to create, delete and set a default profile for the user. The information
will be stored with the user ID, so AXIS will remember a default profile for every user.
If user selects a certain profile under "Always use this profile", then next time this user starts AXIS, it will use the specified profile.
NOTE: The User Profile can only be switched when AXIS restarts.
There is also an option to make AXIS "Prompt for a User Profile" on startup. In this mode, when AXIS starts, it will display the User Profiles dialog prompting the user to select the Profile to use.
When AXIS is started through the command line, the switch -G:ProfileNamecan be used to specify the User Profile.
NOTE: When AXIS starts, if the storage file for a specified Profile is not found in the AXIS directory, AXIS will prompt the user to select a Profile from the list.
