Article Detail:

Moody’s Analytics is pleased to announce the imminent release of the next generation of AXIS GridLink. The new version is fully redesigned to support a variety of deployment options from on-premises, fixed-size grid farms to fully scalable cloud-based environments. It introduces a range of enhancements to existing functionality, many new features, and is designed to be a platform for future expansion of hybrid and fully cloud-based implementations. This advance notice outlines the new deployment requirements that AXIS GridLink administrators must review and be prepared to implement.

What is New In the next Gen GridLink?

The following are the highlights of new functionality:

  • Redesigned AXIS GridLink Configuration Utility interface
  • Full integration into the AXIS Cloud Control Center (part of AXIS CloudLink module)
  • Centralized storage of farm profiles and all settings
  • Greater flexibility to add, remove or replace servers to farms including fully re-provisioning cloud-based farms
  • Detailed job information is stored in a centralized database allowing for easy reporting across multiple farms and queues

What are the new requirements?

The next generation of AXIS GridLink will require the database to be hosted on a SQL Server.

The next generation of AXIS GridLink will also require .NET Framework 4.5.2, which is in line with the latest AXIS requirements.

The following versions of SQL Server are supported:

  1. SQL Server Enterprise 2012-2016
  2. SQL Server Express 2012-2016 (acceptable for smaller farms with no backup/replication requirements)

The AXIS GridLink database can be deployed on a dedicated SQL Server or on an existing SQL Server, provided that connectivity and access permissions for the GridLink service accounts are in place.

When will this new version be available?

The approximate release date of the new version is July 2018.

What happens to existing versions of GridLink?

We will support a version of GridLink that does not require SQL Server for 18 months following the release of the newer version, allowing you to test and transition to the new stream of releases.

This maintenance version will only include bug fixes.
